Welcome to my music. My career has encompassed all aspects of musical activity. In my view the Horn is indispensable to all styles. It has strident as well as heroic and romantic moods. Most definitely a sound to be influenced by.

CD – Under The Influence

Dave Lee - Under The Influence

Virtuoso horn player, Dave Lee, explores his musical passions and influences from David Bowie to Eric Satie and from Pink Floyd to Michael Nyman, taking in Peter Maxwell Davies and Kurt Weill along the way. Featuring the seminal vocalist, Skye, from Morcheeba, this is a truly outstanding album with extraordinary virtuoso horn playing and arrangements of real quality. Dedicated to the memory of his father, Dave Lee also pays homage to his great friend Michael Kamen who sadly passed away earlier in 2004.

Free Download – “Sir Duke”

“Sir Duke” – Stevie Wonder arr. George Hart. Recorded and mixed at Joe and Co. 2001.

A favourite chorus of mine, I always wanted to play it. As horn players it doesn’t come our way. This track was done for my solo album “Under the Influence” but sadly didn’t make the final album list.

It was arranged by George Hart, the very talented son of Paul. He plays drums on this with his dad on keyboards. Other notables are Mitch Dalton (“hardest thing I’ve ever had to play!!”) on guitar, Derek Watkins on trumpet, Andy Mackintosh on alto sax and a singer, whose name I can’t remember, who turned up for a session and got royally roasted!! If you are reading this – THANKS and get in touch!!

I gave George a free hand to play with the piece. He moves it well out of the comfort zone for us all – especially with the time!

Many thanks to all involved.
